Camponotus aethiops

Beitragvon twizz0 » 14. Feb 2010 13:55

Hi, just a quick question really, i recently got a coleny of Camponotus aethiops (Queen + 5) they have moved from the test tube into the 30x20x2 which has a sand as the substrate. She has recently layed a few eggs and the brood is feeding well. However they dont appear to have any interest in tunnelling into the sand they are living in a slight dip ontop, is this normal and will they eventually tunnel?

Thanks

Tris

i would hypothosise, that as you have provided for them all they need, THEY will eventually decide if and when to dig......
as with all small immature colonies, petience is your best freind
