Harpegnathos venator colony with 19 workers at the moment. I am not sure if i can feed them fruitflies or mealworm. I guess i will try it out. I will buy some small crickets this week.

Yes you should just try out , if they dont like it , they wont take it. Is this your whole setup? they need a nest area. This way in a Glasbox they will freak out after a short time.

I keep them in a testtube. This testtube is placed in the basin. Ive wrapped the testtube in aluminum foil. Yesterday i gave them a fruit fly and i cannot find it anymore.

You should try t with bigger flies. They really eat a lot.
You can take a fly and hold it in front of them, they will take it and than you see if they eat or not.
My Harpegnathos saltator ate about 15 flies the first day and they can eat much more!
Those ants are perfect killers.

Yes and much of them. When they never are hungry they will grow rapidly. They can use many proteines and can raise much brood if you hold them right.

Do i also have to give them liquids? Water, sugarwater, honeywater?

At the moment i only give them crickets. I think they drink water from the cotton in the testtube.

I would give them some Water to dring elsewhere. Of course your testtube is enought but it`s better if they can drink without any cotton somewhere.

They are perfect hunting killlers? My ones didn't have a clue what they were doing. I gave them big flies that were black and they were able to grab them but didn't kill them, it took alot longer to kill them then you d think, and these were soft unarmoured flies!

@ highered: I have a colony on my own and they are perfect hunters. They kill crickets bigger then they are. They even attack out of the jump. Maybe you did something wrong.

@Messorus: Yes, but this thread is about Harpegnathos so i didn´t mention the others.^^

@ P.O.N.S.: Yes, you are right.
But they sometimes dring sugarwater, too. You can give it to them once a week and they may drink it.
