ANTSTORE World of Ants

I got a aquarium of 60x30x30 and thought i could maby use it as a basin and buy a ant display to connect with it. Now the aquarium has a plastic top with lighting so that can be used as heating as well. Does anybody has done this before? And can i connect the 2 parts without making holes in the aquarium?

This is for my first ant farm so i'm new with this stuff.

If you want a lid on your basin then you will need to make a hole in it if there isn't already one. It is impossible to connect a basin to a farm if there is no where to connect them.

Id put the farm in the aquarium.. its certainly big enough.

How do you getsure that the ants won't brake out? They will climbe out? What do you use?

Allright, PTFE. I use that also. But is that also suitable in the corners where there is silicone kit?

well id try it.. and then perhaps put a bit of vaseline in the corners just to be sure.

PTFE doesnt work on silicone. You need to cut the silicone away or put something else on it. Like vaseline.

Than I think I will try to keep my colony Pheidole pallidula in an aquarium. How often do in put on the vaseline. Once a`week?

I'm not sure about that, never tried it myself, but i suppose you need to change it when the ants start to walk over it.

First of al i´m gonna think about a design of an ytongnest, which I will place in the aquarium. Anyone any tips? Pictures? It is for a colony Pheidole pallidula.

vaseline dont work for all ants tho.. some just walk straight over it.. If however they dont.. u just need to run a finger over it every few days to refresh it.
