ANTSTORE World of Ants

I have just received delivery of Pheidole Pallidula (first time with these critters). For a small ant they seem to have a big reputation as escape artists. Have read some of the various discussions on these ants and will implement some preventative steps.

Any other tips would be good?
Main question though what size population can they grow to?

Looking to keep them in glass Y-Tong Formicary I ordered from Radiss at Antmania.

Hi Sian,
They do escape lol trust me.. However they dont seem to like Vaseline so try that. I believe they can grow to very large numbers VERY quickly... So that ytong aint gonna be good for long.. perhaps a year if ur lucky.
Im also gonna try mine in a ytong howeva its much bigger than the ones Radiss is selling

Once ive set it all up il take some pics n post it.. atm im waitin for my glass maker for a cover.

Yes it is true, they are masters in escaping. They are small and have very strong jaws. They can also chew through y-tong so be ware if you use any.

The exact number i don't know but they make big colonies.

The Y-tong I intend to use is glass. Therefore cannot see them getting through this?

Unless the attack the silicone or whatever the glass is held together with?

Ah okay, i think i now what you mean, no i never heard of them chewing through silicone ore glass. So i think it is safe. (post some pictures of the setup if you can, and of the ants off course.)
