"Empire of the Undergrowth" IV : Foraging & Cutting

Hello readers,

See how these ants efficiently cut leaves and carry them in varying sizes and weights back to the growing nest and colony. This is the fourth installment of the "Empire of the Undergrowth" series, and being a 'wordless' video it features a montage of the colony foraging and cutting rose leaves. The fungus had shrunk a bit, so I decided to try a little trick that crossed my mind. This led to a large increase in leaf cutting.

Continuing the growth of an Atta cephalotes colony, entering and leaving the 12th month of the year of 2012, the queen and colony have been doing well. Many new workers have hatched and many new eggs have been laid. The colony is growing and in good conditioning entering the new year. First documented AntsNational footage filmed in 1080p HD !
