ratgreen your best bet is a heat mat up against the side of it.. connected to a thermostat and a hole made in the ytong so the probe go be stuck inside.. would keep a good temp for you then,

i dont like heatmats, i bought one for my gecko and it was about £20 and it does bugger all heat wise. also it would be ultimate hassle with a heatmat as that involves getting more power splitters and yet more wires trailing on my floor. if i get a ceramic heater bulb then i can just move the light holder pointing to the side of the ytong, is it worth getting a thermostat?

It is best if you use one. If they don't fail, you are much saver with a thermostat. (and your ants to.)
