well i did get her from a queen(26/4/08),i think she has been eating them due to stress, as i have been looking at her too much, as i have fed her alot so she shouldnt be hungry. so i'm going to stop looking at her so much now. why jimmy how many cocoons did you get to start off with?
26/04... hm, normally she should have workers already, i'm afraid she is not fertilized. The one cocoon could be a male (not fertilized queens produce males).
They normally start of with a lot of brood, 3-5 cocoons and larva and eggs. I think (has been a while) mine had 4 workers the first month.
well it has only been 14 days or so, from an egg so are you sure? as i though it took a whole month for them to become workers? i really do hope that she is fertilized, but i have a feeling that you are right as at the moment there are only that cocoon and 4 other small larvea how can i tell if it is male, will it have wings and be quite small?
thanks for info and i will keep you informed.
er first worker hatched a while back but my second one hatched 2 days ago. I have been having a bit of trouble with feeding them so i moved them into this temporary setup. just thought i would post the pics as im quite pleased how its going, even if it is a little slow.
Where did you get your Camponotus substitutus queen from? Antstore don't sell this species. I'm just wondering as if they sell species that Antstore don't it might be worth me buying from them as well. Thanks.
