Hi,
I have one question about the hibernation for my Lasius niger.
I would hibernate my colony this winter (it's my first colony), from november to february.
I can use a garage but I have some trouble about temperature.
I found a link with the temperature during the year in my city, in the period between november and february we have 2°-3°C minimum and 10°-12°C max.
Can I simply put my colony inside the garage or I have to use some kind of heat insulator?

If you keep them in there test tube you could just wrap it in bubble wrap.. but inside a garage i imagine they would be fine.. I used to put mine in the shed and never had probs

Thanks for your answer.
The ants are in the test tube (they are almost 40) and this is in the arena. I think that they will move in the farm before november.

I think its save to put the farm into the garage with those temperatures.

i kept all my colonies in the shed last winter and it was hitting -3 -7 some days and they were all fine i just made sure there was towls around them to hold out the frost
