Lasius niger - Care Sheet for download

Beitragvon Sniengan Doo » 6. Sep 2007 21:48

Miszt. I applaud you for writing this.... Thank you!

I have printed it off, and another piece of work, similar but from Antnest UK and Ive read them cover to cover.

It has made my decision so much easier.... questions such as... how to introduce the ants to the farm.......

So fantastic, that Ive now ordered my ant farm from this site. Ive gone for the classic version for beginners. And a tube of lasius niger are now on their way to my home to be taken into work.

I am so excited! I almost prefer work to home these days (sad or what, and YES I really should get out more!)

Many many thanks from a real beginner.

Mary

Great job there....

Looking forward to Care Sheet of Myrmica rubra, Camponotus ligniperda, Messor barbarus, Pheidole pallidula, ...

Information like this should be made sticky so that noobies would be able to find them fast and not ask the same question million times.

Keep up the good work :thumleft:

I want to turn this into a general FAQ for keeping ants, so if anyone has any suggestions of stuff to add, let me know! and i'll add it in, the idea is for all the repeated questions on here to be in one place so noobies dont have to ask over n over :) and the forum can then be filled with interesting new questions

what would be really helpful, wuld be not just suggestions, but for people to write short paragraphs i can add in about diffrent subjects that reguly come up, dont worry if you dont have amazing english, i can correct most of it (except the spelling lol but thats wot spell check is for!)

That would be nice. ;)

Something like Hibernation is a must on it i think. European ants 4-6 months. South European ants 2-4 months. Exotic ants none. (question that is asked a few times.
How to keep the nest moist en what kind of sand you need to use. What is the best setup (in my experience y-tong ;) )

That is all i can think at the moment. But i'm sure there are many more FAQ's ;)

yes, so that you dont end up with water logged sand/soil in the bottom of your farm, which will lead to drowned ants and collaposed tunnels
