Hello everyone,
I am looking to start a new colony and i was hoping that you might be able to help. I have a small colony of Pheidole pallidula (200-250) in a tank 90cm long by 30cm wide and 30cm high and Messor cf. capitatus (50-75) in a tank 40x30x30cm. I would really like to get a colony that is good at hunting but I have no idea which would be the best.
I was thinking of dividing the larger 90x30x30cm tank into 2 parts with a small lake in the middle and adding another colony (good hunters) or if i can find a good colony that hunts all year round (no hibernation) and needed a bigger space, then I would buy another large tank.
Ether way I am thinking of rebuilding the vivarium for the Pheidole pallidula while they are hibernating over the winter. I was thinking of something like this Hyperlinks sind nur für registrierte Nutzer sichtbar but I was worried that the ants might drown. Has anyone ever had a water feature in there tank and how has this gone. Do the ants drown or keep away from the water? Or dose anyone have any other ideas on how to set it up for the best viewing of these ants.
Cheers for the help everyone
