ANTSTORE World of Ants

During a holiday to thailand I came across many species, lots of weaver ants too I'll post pictures later. Not sure what this was, any ideas? It is large easily as big if not bigger than my nigriceps, they were very aggressive too.

That looks like a Tetraponera to me. Probably Tetraponera rufonigra.

Very interesting ant with a painful sting.

Thanks just looked them up, these things were every where on the beach area. People were walking bare foot on them and I was picking them up. Ha ha. Wish I had found a queen now.

I heard from people who searched those ants, that it is extremly hard to find queens. They live high in trees in very dry dead wood. To get a queen you need to all the nests the colony has and take them apart, hoping that she doesn´t fall out, also you will get stung by very many ants.
