gel nests should be banned/out lawed. They are not the 'complete habitat' which it is claimed by the manufacturers. Ants are not happy in them. I will give you an example. Few weeks ago, I found a fire ant queen and ot having any place at the time to put her, I automatically put her in the gel habitat. She enclosed herself in a place but for the number of days she was there, she did not lay any eggs (something in her body was with holding her from going into an egg laying cycle in the gel habitat). Consequently, I moved her out of the gel and into a test tube with water stopped up by a sponge on one side) and stopped by cotton on the other (with the ant in between). Before I moved her I also let her gorge on sugar/honey watered cotton ball. After being transported into the test tube, she finally layed eggs where being in the gel for days on end she still refused to reproduce in it. Do yourself a favor, do not endorse these stupid gel farms and join forces with those who oppose them. (If I had it my way I would have them banned altogether). Gel ant farms are not a natural nor 'complete' ant envronment. Ants are repulsed by the artificial gel.
