Deze zijn al even uit hun winterslaap (van begin februari) hier kan je zien hoe een major (soldaat) de ingang van het nest bewaakt terwijl de andere werksters een beetje genieten van de warmte (warmtelamp).
Op de andere foto zie je hoe een werkster een andere dode werkster wegdraagt.

hmm... that is a tricky question. I like all of my ant species. I like this one because it is my biggest colony if have but they are in a sand nest so i can no look into the nest.

My Pheidologeton diversus or bigger in size (the ants i mean) but the colony is smaller (for now) and they are still in a temporary nest. But i like there size. and they are very beautiful.

But like i said, i like al of my ants.

You have only one queen or more queens in this nest?
I never see this ants ,and I maybe receive small colony sometimes at the end of June. I have small question. It is very small ant? I heard they are small ,but I am not sure about that. Please write me ,what is minor/major/queen size. You can write it like.... "minor is somethink like Letpothorax" it is better to understand.

Most of the time the only have 1 queen in the colony. But i have 2 queens in this one.

The are not big, the biggest major is smaller then the minor of Pheidologeton diversus and they are masters in escaping.

The queen is about 6-9mm minors 2-3mm and majors 3-5mm.

Hey Skippy,
when you look up Stuff on Pheidole sp, youll find most topics dealing with how to keep them from escaping;) Scooby, who visits this Forum every now and then too, spent a lot of time keeping differen Pheidole sp. His advise is a totally closed glasslid or a very smallscaled,very strong steelnet, but beware from little gaps between tank and lid, they will try to use any weak point in the setup. They are also said to be able to bite through a lot of materials.
All this makes them pretty complicated in my eyes. Pheidologeton diversus are still very annoying when it comes to keeping them inside the tank, but at least they are giants compared to Pheidole sp. Makes it a bit easier.
