My new setup is going to be a panoramic farm in an aquarium, so nest expansion wouldn't be an issue for quite some time. However, should the time come when I have to expand the size of my setup what would be the best way of doing this without drilling holes in the aquarium. (Drilling into glass is somewhat difficult.) Just wondering if anyone knows of some good alternatives. Thanks.

You could place another farm next to the old one and make a bridge from the one farm to the other one, the only big problem you have than is making it escape proof. (This setup is most of the time used to move ants from one farm to another)

i would put the holes in the glass and plug them up and when it is time to expand just connect your new farm

if you plan for expantions when you first build your farm you should have no problems

That's what I'd like to do, but I don't think I'll be able to get a hole drilled in my aquarium. I'll probably have to think of something else that's escape proof.

I made my farm out of clear plactic perstecs and glued it together like an aquarium and then on one side i made a cork farm up on side and sealed it with more serspects it is very easy to work with plastic to cut and drill i had no problem but i made my chambers to big about the size of the bottom of a drinking glass if my queen dies i will redo it with more chanbers that are small and long rather than big nad round but i think it will work i have the cork all up one side of the aquarium i made and the hole to the farm at the bottom to the foraging area and my queen has been around the whole farm she wont come out but she still has not laid eggs i think she will die she was the first one i caught

Well I've already got the aquarium and the glass cut to make the inner tank, and I'd hate for that money I spent to go to waste so I'll just stick with my glass aquarium for this colony. If anyone has any other ideas as to how to expand it and keep it escape-proof feel free to post them.

well lukey if i was u id take ya tank to ur local glass cutter and ask him to drill a hole in it for you.. would prob only cost a few dollars.

Well I asked if he could do it when I got some glass cut for my inner tank, but he said he couldn't. I don't really know why. It is a glass shop after all...
