I found the queen dead today :( i've had a look in the test tube, and its crawling with tiny white mites! not happy AT ALL. will be onto the shop I bought her from this afternoon to find out why theyr selling queens in this condition, also the cotton wool is very slimey, i suspect its full of bacteria :(

My nu queen arrived today, looking very healthy and happy :) one worker also, 3 pups, 2 larvae and 3 eggs :D hopefully she will accept the few eggs from my dead queen aswell, but i'm not gona be to hopeful about that!

Great example of good'ol Royal Mail (UK) the box arrived completly snapped in half! the plastic test tube was very badly cracked, I usually prefer glass test tubes, but in this case I'm glad it was plastic otherwise the queen would have escaped and died :(

All good tho :D shes arrived, n i'm bak on track :D

As these ant colonys grow so slowly, i've deiceded that the big tank is a bit pointless at the moment, so i've moved them into a small one (20x10x10) which i've made into a farm basin, gona use the big one for sum somthing else I think, maybe sum honey pot ants :)

;) not a bad idea, but in a few years you probably will need a big tank for this colony to.

Nice young colony miszt ... your ants collection groing very fast ... day and day ,more and more ants !

Yes ,you must use bigger tank as arena ,when colony will be bigger :) ,it is only good for ants ,ants like big region to searching food and walking on sunlight :)

The "Ytong" you use looks way more like concrete and not like Ytong. Not much bubles in the material. It must be much harder to work on like on brittle Ytong.
