i have asked this question befor where do i put the ants in when i get them the farm or basin when i asked it asked it befor somebody replied i would wait till the queen the queen has 10 or more workers befor i put her in the tank thank u for that but i would like to know where i put them her after that plz reply
i would put her in now,the only problem i get is that you cannot monitor the colonys progress as well in a test tube ,the ants will be fine if you wait a bit longer or put them in now,as long as you treat them correct, the out come will be the same,a healthy colony
You could put here in now, but its easier if you keep them in the tube until the colony is bigger. Easier to watch them en to see if everything is okay.
You want to know if you should put them in the basin ore in the farm. Well if the colony is a bit bigger then i would place them in the basin, the workers will find the farm soon.
i put mine in my sand farm it was just the queen the only problem with that is that she has dug in and you cant see her the only fact i know shes alive is that i find new bits of dirt digging every morning but she will stop digging at some time and i will just have to hope shes alive (but my farm is 4cm wide).
i guess the only benefit is that i will not have to stress her out by asking her to move when she does have some workers, but plenty of people here wait for worker and then move the ants out fo the test tube and they have great colonies.
but my thought on your question
if you wait for worker like jimmy said put her in the basin and if you just put the queen in by herself id put her in the farm
Depending on the size of the ants. Lasius niger you could keep in a tube until they have more than 100 workers, if you have bigger ants move them sooner.
