Best regards Martin Sebesta
well should be a long fight as there are loads of eggs
what about seperating the wueens and giving them a few eggs each, then you could have a few colonies and all the queens will live?
yes, you can separate the queens with some eggs each. you will get a colony from each of them.
I Have a colony and was wondering what will happen when the queen dies? Will the colony die or will there be another queen?
I would also like to start another colony. I would like a large, aggressive, exotic species. can anyone recommend a good species and where i could get them and how much they might cost?
thanks
If it is a monogyn colony and the queen dies, yes the colony will fade and die!!!!
If it is a polygyn colony with a few queens and one dies it may not be the end of the world!!!

that is not always the case,a male and female alate can mate inside the nest in certain species, or the workers can "kidnap" a queen if they find her on their territory
Yes, this is true!
but jimbo was asking the question about his colony,
and i tried that with a Lasius niger colony who then slaughtered the queen that i placed in
I have the Myrmica rubra species so will the colony die when the queen dies?
Any suggestions on the exotic species that i mentioned in this thread or any other species that are large and aggressive. Myrmica rubra are not really the kind of species i was after.
Thanks for your help
