Found several nests today in Edgewood Park (Redwood City, CA). My guess is Camponotus clarithorax, as they look more "golden" than the anthrax did.

These are very nice ants but i can not say for sure they are clarithorax.
I'm you compare them with the one on the picture of antweb, they look the same. ;)

I think the second one has to be. It was huge. Although, several of the other ones where lurching at me when I tried to scoop them up. They were standing their ground. :-D

They could be C. clarithorax, it is a widespread and variable ant. The second one is indeed a major worker[I]
