heya everyone

i was hoping if you could give me advise on how to feed these ants and look after them in general, my starter kit came today and i have ordered Aphaenogaster senilis ants, ive researched pictures of them and they seem rather big to me

and i was wondering, shall i feed them small insects ( dead. or alive ?) or honey

Hi Ryan and welcome,

I don't keep these species myself but i can help you a bit.

They like insects and honey (ore sugar/water), start with small dead insects, cut them in half for a small colony.

They are south European ants so they like it warm in summer about 25-30°c, they also have shorter hibernation periods, 2-3 months.

wat sort of insects shall i use, theres not much in england ( hehe ) i could get some crickets ? i tried woodlouce on my lignigperda ** and they didnt like it

in deed, you can try every insect you find. ore buy some from you local fishing store.

Hi, I too have ordered these ants - does anyone know if they can sting ,and, how big are the average workers?
