i don't think 4°c is going to hurt them, but to be sure you can keep it between 5-10°c

i think the blankets will only add a degree or 2.
the main reason for the blankets are to keep some heat in it other night as the temp outside the shed is currently about -2 - 3 degres

I don't think an extra blanket will do the trick. If you don't have the heater just the blanket will not keep them any warmer. I think you keep the colony in the test tube so just close it up nicely with some cotton and put them in the fridge. That's it. No more worries.

no i prefer to leave them where they are at the moment and i do not wish to move them as the whole test tube is covered in sand so moving them would desturb them

p.s. i do not mean this post in a horrible way to mpir i just do not agree

Doesn't really matter. Once they are out of hibernation they will start to explore their new surroundings. If you put the test tube in the arena, when the water in test tube will dry out they will move to moisty sand in diplay. If you put the test tube in display they will just find the more sutable place earlier...

yeah i think it will be better to place them into the arena and let them move themselves into the arena and i dont think the test tube will fit into the ant display any how :)
properly best to let them move them selves.

That is the best way to do it, just place the tube in the new farm and let them move them selves. After hibernation i mean. ;)
