No unfortunetly, only that their diet consisted of 50-60% fruits, seeds and nuts, I'm trying to get a list together of native fruits/seeds in Malaysia and Tropical Australia, once I have it sorted I will post it up :D my Pheid affinis arrive next week :D

Hey guys, I been Away for a while. My daughter was born on 10th Jan she`s gorgeous:)

I`m afraid I lost another queen, no obvious reason why she died, she was the one in the biggest colony and seemed to be doing really well.

The other queen is doing fine and I managed to adopt most of the workers between the colonies. I do offer seeds to my Pheidologeton diversus but not tried fruit and nuts I spose the more varied the better so i`lll try to add some.

Glad to hear about youre Affinis Misz and I wish you the best of luck with them, are they from Kalyatta?

Conratulations Ashton :D

Yeah definitly try fruits, i've been trying to find out what are most common in S.Asia/Northern Australia, but no luck yet, but i've just remebered (while writing this) that one of my cousins lives there, so will ask and let you know :D

sorry to hear about ur queen :( is that colony now queenless? they are an 'advanced' species tho, so culd be the tiniest thing that kills her

yes my colony is coming from Kalytta, its not 100% confirmed as Affinis, but its very similar, if i cant work it out, i'll take a worker or two down to the natrual history museum an rumage thru their specimins, if they'l let me lol

I am sorry i just have to ask but do you think top-soil from your local garden center will do as the nesting ground for this species?
Thanks.

Hey there,
problem with the soil is the fertilizer inside. I'm not certain what you call it, but you should be able to get soil without fertilizer, used to start plant cultivations. That would be the safest bet.
Heater lamps work well, aim for ~26°C.
You certain you wanna try with that species? Its rather hard to keep them and most beginner colonies die rather fast, so they can be very frustrating.
Greetings,

Peat, is the best thing for ants, theres lots of diffrent types, but it doesnt really matter which it is as long as it has nothing added to it

Which species did you kept before ? If this is the first colony you are going to keep, i'm sorry to say, you will fail ! If you have experience with European species, you probably fail to, if you have experience with exotic species you could get lucky...

trust me, and Jimmy, you will fail at it, then youl be Gutted.
these ants are Exotic, and are Highly Difficult to Keep. you need lots of Experience for These Ants.
