heat

using a radiant heater that heats only the ant not the air around it, is it possible to overheat the ant? I have one in use with my C.Ligniperda queen and im just worried that it's too hot for her. I have it covering half the basin. It is heating the side that her tube is on. If it gets too hot will she move out of the tube of just sit in there and cook? Sorry if that sounds like a silly question but i dont wanna damage her. I tried using a thermometer to determine temp but as it usually detects air temp it's not much use.......

Its best to provide a cooler place for the queen. So don't heat up the hole tube, only half of it. It could be she will leave the tube if it gets to hot, but than it is probably to late for her. She will try and stay inside because there she is save.
