Hi.

I'm a beginner and I have never had an ant farm before and I have a few questions.

I have bought an AntWorks set. Will an AntWorks set be okay?

Will I need to feed the ants and give them water? If so, how do I do it?

What type of ant would be the best for me to have? (I am looking for a type that can live in an AntWorks set and is easy to handle for beginners.)

antworks=trouble + waste of money i would say get somthink else for u'r ants.....

an if u r looking 4 eazy ants then consider...

AntWorks seems the easiest option for me. I might use my AntWorks set to see if I can look after the ants and when they all die, I will decide whether I want to make a colony with something better than AntWorks.

What do you think?

It will not work. Many people tried and it never worked. Ants won't survive long, and they will not behave normally. AntWorks is a piece of expensive sh**. It is the ant concentration camp, not real formicarium. I'm sorry, but you have wasted money. Buy or make something cheaper and more suitable, and don't try to put ants in this sadistic device.

You can still try taking the gel out of the antworks and replacing it with a much better substrate like sand .

I have to agree with everyone.. You have wasted your money. However perhaps if you do what Phasmid has said you might be ok. But in my opinion its still not really big enough for a colony.
Have a look around the forum.. there is actually a sticky i believe on Gel Farms.. and WHY they are so bad.

Hello Snoop1000 and welcome.

Yep, they are wright, antworks are not good for a colony, if you like ants and i think you do, keep them in a nice suitable farm.
Read around a bit here at the forum, plenty of good information that should help you allot. If not, feel free to ask and we will help you as much as we can.
