How do you..?

Beitragvon Yourpredator2 » 17. Nov 2007 13:26

Hi, As the title says I need help with getting my ants into y-tong. I have a small problem though, I've brought a tube that is too big to fit through the hole of the basin, So i've stuck it on. I was thinking of putting a ramp up but if anyone has any better ideas please say :)

Also, How would make your ants move into the y-tong on their own? I don't want to drop them in. Should I like Connect the test tube to the tube connecting the basin and the y-tong? And then they could walk in on their own...

Badly drawn diagram:

just leave the test tube open in the basin, they will move in themselves :) dont force them, this topic has actually been done allot on here, run a few searchs using the menu and you'll get lots of tips and info

most ants can walk up glass very easily, so you dont need a ramp for them, what species is it?

firstly hello and welcome to the forum :)

as miszt says you will find all the information/help/tips etc you need, if you exercise a little time and petience reading the forums, tho a quick tip is to make the nest area warm and dark, and leave the test tube in a bright colder spot, the ants will soon find and move to the nest.....

let us know how you get on, and good luck

Like Purifier said, how big is your colony, if it is rather small they will not move soon. Also are they in hibernation now ? If they are they are not moving nether. ;)

Just give them the time to move, they probably move if they feel it is necessary.

Yourpredator2 you must let "PETIENCE" become your best friend when deciding to keep ants as a hobby
They will do what they want to do in thier own time, this can be a very anxious waiting game, lol ants do not take our feeling into consideration when going about thier daily routines....... :)
