I have just put my Lasius niger Ants into the fridge which is sitting at about +4C I did it because since the cold snap last week they have not left the nest or done anything except sleep. I have left them in the cold so that the fridge won't be a big shock.
As you may know from my last post I have been given a stroppy queen from Miszt
and she refused to mave her family to a new test tube filled with water, this means that the tube she is living will run out of water before the end of Feb. To counter this I have put a full test tube of water in the basin, I have also put a small tube of honey water for food and some of the Bloom Poll dry food I have also put some dobs of honey out to make sure they have everything they need in terms of food and water.
Is there anything else I can do to make sure they survive until the end of Feb. I am guessing that the end of Feb is when they should be woken up
Comments and toughts please
Paul

make sure that hte area u have them in the fridge isnt subject to any tempreture changes, particuly areas that may suffer from frost
beware for the beer, ants love them. lol
