Minifarm Arrived :)

Beitragvon Wildbird » 15. Aug 2007 21:36

Hi Again

Ok the antfarm has arrived :D so I'll be setting it up tomorrow I just wanted to sense check a couple of things, I was given a small bag of red sand I am assuming this goes in the bottom of the habbitat part and you push a length of pipe in to it and use it to keep adding the water to the bottom of the habbitat to keep it moist.

I am going to use a soil/sand mix in the foraging bit I should keep this dry so they won't dig it.

Lastly I am getting a queen from Miszt should I put box/container in the foraging bit or the habbitat part??

I'll keep you updated as I go :)

Thanks

paul

You mean the box/container with your queen? Doesn´t really matter where you put it. Ants will find the way.
If you will receive just the queen keep her in a test tube untill colony is 10 -15 workers strong.

Good luck and do keep us updated.

You mean "seramis" not "ceramics" do you?

You should find it in every garden center

It is not a must to use it at the bottom of your farm but it is always better if you do, so if you can find it, use it. ;)

its Ceramics in english dr.House

It's a trademark, it's called the same in UK ... that's why I posted the link to their web presence in UK. Or is "ceramics" written phonetic :-) *smile*

About these little seramis/ceramics or whatever you want to use ... be careful, sometimes ants like to dig there or carry it away ^^

Ceramic's are not a trademark, often used for making Pottery, Cups etc, I suspect that Seramis make products from Ceramic's :)
