I just got my Myrmica rubra colony i have like 25 or so in there and I havent seen queen but im sure shes ok because theres these white things and smaller things which are eggs and her larva But I dont have no place to put them in because all the fish tanks had holes in so im going to order something off antstore to put them in would they be ok to stay in the tube for a while ?

Of course they'll be ok in there, for a while. :wink:
Make sure there is enough water and moist. I think this is not the problem if there is water behind the cotton in tube. And if there is "white stuff" in the tube give them some freshly killed fly or piece of hard boiled egg yalk. Mine love it. And they should be ok.

heh I red your mind lmao I found this big fly I hit it because it was in my house and I fed it to them its really cool watching them rip it to pieces lol :) So seems like im ok :)

did you find the queen yet ? She is not much bigger then the workers, that is probably why you did not see her yet.

lol nope I think shes under all the cotton and i dont want to try to move it ill get bitten and disturb them lol the fly I put in was alive still lol and like nearly as big as the tube but they made short work off it:P alot of protein and hopefully feed them for a week or so :P

depends on the size of you colony, if they are 25 ants strong i don't think they would survive on it for a week. Also give them sugar or honey, they like it very much.

honey isnt that like sticky stuff? and sugar water wont it drown them or harm them if you pour it in the tube?

dont full the tube up with it just put a little inside.. then onces its gone you can add more. remember.. your not trying to make them swim.. :)

Today i took the fly out and gave them a worm but it was alive when I took it out because it looked like it was blocking it and I have another question

How do i know if there cocoons does it look like a yellow shaped egg because I have one of those and alot of white ones :)


Could I also just feeed them sugar atm I have fed them only insects and that :)

Myrmica rubra dont have cocoons, they have pupae, which look like this.
