i have a few questions about winged ants

1) when is the time of year they come out of the nest in the uk?

2) is it possible for a colony in captivaty to have winged ants?

3) how do colonys produce winged ants?

4) if i have a species of ant thats not from the uk and they a winged ants, do i relice them into the wild?

5) if i do relice them into the wild is it possible they may sucsefully mate and start a new colony it the wild?

1.) Usually around late july/ early august.
2.) Im not to sure, but the colony has to be a few years old before it will prudce them.
3.) A queen can choose what kind of eggs she wants to lay, an unfertilized egg [ no sperm] will turn into a male ant. A fertilized egg [ with sperm] will turn into a female ant. For one of the female eggs to turn itno a queen, the larave must be very well nourished.
4.) Im not too sure, there might be a law agains it.
5.) Depends on what specie is, some may be able to survive, otehr may not.

Sealed the tube with what?
how many workers is there in your colony?
as small colonys feel more vunerable so they tend to forage at night.
