I collected two differet kind of queen 11 days ago. They started producing eggs about the same time. I can show you them.
One is a formica queen most probably Formica rufibarbis. It has 8 larvas and they are developing well.
The other is some kind of Lasius queen. It is almost the same size than the formica. It has smaller eggs and more of them. And not larva yet.
I'm very glad for the larvas as I have a Messor structor queen more than 2 months now and it has nothing as well developed brood as the Formica queen. I now try not to disturb her, I watch instead the other two queen.
When do you think the first larva of the Lasius hatches?

My queens progress well. I noticed the first larvas 4 days ago at my Lasius queen. The formica queen has only 1 larva left all the others are pupa with and without cocon. I disturbed a little my Messor queen also to take a picture. She had a larva at last. I show you the pictures, I hope you like them.
