Hi,

thank you very much for your post. I think I can speak for all that it is always very interesting for us to know how other people in different countries keep their ants.

I would like to know what types of nest do you prefer for your ant colonies (material, how do you build them etc.). Do you also have a lot of problems with mite infestation? And if so, how do you handle the infestation?

Maybe you could also provide some pictures of whole setups.

Welcome and thank you in advance.

I will soon upload some picture of my nest. It is hard to get rid of the mite. The mite usually disappear in the winter. During the summer, I use mite abolish patch product made for beetles. When the mite infestion just began, the mite usually stick only to the queen. So I wash the queen in running water and check the queens body by using magnifying glass.(I keep the cocoon and throw away the eggs and larvas.) I also think that the too much sealed nest and too much humidity makes mites grow well. So I prefer the gypsum nest, because it is easy control the situation.
