Its an antstore beton nest 39x16 and a Glass basins 40x30x20 cm with 27mm drilling, they fit together perfectly. :)

Now i need to decide what ants to put inside it, im open to suggestions and ideas, (not MR's or LN's i have 2 of those already)

Wow, very nice. You should put a way down from the y-tong to the ground though.

or go to somthing harder like Messor barbarus* (sorry for spelling) or Pheidole pallidula

*Edit Antstore - correction

oh yeah i noticed that when i posted there is no way down >.< ill put a stick in or something i guess,

i have a MB queen but she wont lay eggs :( she is however still alive after 3 & half months, and has never left the test tube( far as i know) who knows maybe she will start laying after hibernation. =D>

Lasius flavus, too easy, too similar :p

Pheidole pallidula, maybe, but i hear they can be a bit of an escape artist being so small.

btw (dont mean this nastily) before you go waste like 50 quid or whatever price they are why not start of with a level above lasius and mymrica's etc a more basic higher species because as i said you dont wana waste it all for them to just come and die (my 2p ignore it but i always try to think more logically) if you have the money go for it and if there only cheap etc give it a try ! gl :)

That nest is huge. You could fill some of its chambers with sand before you put in the ants.

i tried to do that, but it was too difficult all the sand just fell out, its not like the ones where you lay it horizontally and place a sheet of galss over the top, there was alot of movement putting it in the basin.

as for the heat mat i think ill just put it on the bottom under half of the basin then they can choose the temperature they want, having it on the side might make it awkward.
