hi i am new here and put english for my country but also russian for reference

ok i have brought a very small ant farm and will be getting around 10 lasius niger workers tommorow but unfortinatly the sellers were out of queens so how long will my workers stay alive for without a queen????

A year maybe, but probably less if they were captured as adults. Anyway they will only want to escape. Keeping a few workers is completely senseless. Be patient, learn a bit about ants and get the queen in summer.

Hello matt and welcome.

Sorry to say but i think you need to read a bit around the forum first (or Internet). Learn about ants by reading a lot and if you still have questions later, just ask.

Still i think there is lot to learn. Keeping ants is fun but you need to learn about ants before you keep them. (i think that works for all "pets")

True, but i can see on what you are writing here that you just don't know enough to keep these ants.
For example, a colony without a queen is useless. The workers have no goal in live. They will just sit there and die. It doesn't matter if you buy more workers.
I even don't understand why that person is selling only workers to you ?

i think what jimmy is trying to say is if you have been reading around then you will know that keeping a ant colony without a queen is useless and not to mention cruel. the ants will live a lonley life and i can tell you with experience that keeping a colony with a queen is far more interesting to watch. ( i have never tried to keep a colony without a queen ) thanks and good luck

I had once ants without a queen, I had it before I knew colonies are sold, I had it before I knew this forum.

I read a lot about ants, and now I know what I have done is totally cruel. And boring, you will only see ants digging and die. they wont las longer than a weak.

Dont keep going doing what you have been doing. It is a waste of time and money.
