I Have just aquired Tetramorium caespitum:

After some initial research could not find to much information as to their environment except stony loamy?

I Have aquired loam sand and loamy compost for bonsai trees is this ok?

Been here to.

But not lose sight of the initial question, can anybody who has kept these ants successfully confirm if the materials I have aquired are adequate or is there something better that could be used.

Just looking for tips as I agree they are not ornaments.

But thanks for doing the search though.

Tetramorium caespitum is very universal ant, with no special requirements. They adapt easily, like Lasius niger. The only reason they are not so common as Lasius niger is their slower reproduction. They live on plains, in forests and under pavements. So you may take a block of concrete and duplicate their natural environment They are easy to keep and will adapt to any standard formicarium. I wouldn't use compost in nest, however - hey, ants are animals, not plants, they need earth only for building, not for growing
