Just wondering guys but what could be the reason for new workers dying.. ive noticed a few bodys outside of very ornage ants.. which im guessin are new workers.. Howeva some are perfectly fine.. They have plenty of sugar water and get fruit.. and always have crickets... So i dont get it :s
Ok guys.. thought it might be time for an update.. They are in Hibernation now.. well best i can give them. Which is an unheated room with the windows left open.. Atm during the day its around the 10-14 degrees mark.. depends on the temp outside. They still seem VERY active and are still eating.. and today i had a good look inside the nest and there is still lots an lots of brood.. will they like just continue going lol.. or perhaps have a break.. Ive not seen ants as good as producing huge numbers as these.. and i WAS gonna add more queens dont think i will now.. Anyways.. Pics below.. Enjoy and please do comment
@Jimmy... Sorry some of them are bigish bud.. but they had to be so that you could see the details.. mainly how BIG that queen is.. which for this spec i thought it was kinda rare...
Was checking my ants today.. and i noticed the massive pile of larvae... i didnt think they had that much.. guess they was planning on making sure they started sping with a boom...
Well im kinda running low on crickets atm.. and its not the kinda of weather to get pleny of bugs in garden.. so i decided to give my rubra some Honey roast ham... and they loved it
In fact i gave it to all my ants.. and they are all out loving it loads.. thats a first.. all my ants coming out.. even the small colonies...
Ok.. so today i checked on them and there is a bunch of ants in there with Wings.. Hard to tell if they are males or queens.. but i think there is both... isnt it like a tad early for them to be producing alates ?? Anyways.. il get some pics up soon
