lol probly not but that would be cool Lasius fliger lol i think if i could get enough males from other lasius flavus coloines i will try to mate all my queens and sell them to a local pet store or person

you cant force them to mate, they have specific triggers that cause there hormones to take over and set them into the right state for Nuptial Flights, you will have more luck waiting till the flights happen and collecting mated queens, if you found lots of winged queens, its a good sign that they will happen soon ;)

o so once a colony has sent out its queens and males and you catch them they wont mate in captivity

It is best to wait for the queens to snip off wer wings in the wild, this shows that the queen is fertile and redy to produce a new colonie. :)

sometimes the queens don't do that. they sometimes leave them on, and the workers take them off

That is true, but i heard it is rare for them to do that. Pluss with there wings off you can defanatly know that they are fertile.

Just leave them in the colony. Than there are 2 options. The workers kill them or they will help in the colony like workers.

ya but only let them go in the wild if the species is common in your area if not its Strongly advised to keep alien species at home!
For example your lasius niger colony has frones and winged queens only them go out in the wild if there are lasius niger coloinies in your area etc...

Im not sure how you would encourage ur winged queens to fly outside to mate anyway
