Hello bigbibble well where do i start , i suppose answering your questions one by one lol , Evrytime i open the tank the bees do come out but i put my hands in and clean the glass and it doesent bother them, the few that come out just fly out the door and round to the entrnace hole back to the hive. The bees have just been treated for varroa mites with apiguard and i just put one on top of the frame as u do in a hive and let the bees do the rest. I will never be able to stop dieases getting into the nest but the tube entrance is easyer to guard then a long hive entrence.

I am not sure wot species of bee i have , how do you tell ? , but i am going to requeen the colony soon if they dont supersedure there own queen (as her colonys temperment is fantastic) due to her lack of egg laying and that some of her larva dont live longer then 4 days from hatching. But my new queen will be a carnolian.

Bigbibble they are not in that setup anymore i have made a new one with 6 frames and 3 supers in. will post some new pics today some point.

heres a link to a site to identify your bees its hard so good luck:
Hyperlinks sind nur für registrierte Nutzer sichtbar.
Also you should probably provide a dark area for the queen to lay eggs as she can get very stressed in light.

The bees were free of a freind due to my help with some hard work but usally there about £50 - £100 for a 5 frame colony with a laying queen. Wow, these bees are the bees knees. Looking forward to future updates :). How come the bees don't fly from the exit tube to the window and into the house?

Hello spore there is no way of the bees getting into the house because the window around the tube is sealed. The bees go from the observation hive throu the tube to outside and come back. Thankyou jimmy , i sure am enjoying keeping and writing about them and im glad u guys like wot ive done . :D

I have some info on your new queen. Your old queen produces a sent that causes all workers to attack the new queen. Also the queen has a sent that stops new queens from being born (i think). So as long as the old queen remains alive, the workers are going to make it a hard job for the new queen to settle in.

Hello spore , the old queen has been removed and the colony has gone 24 hrs without a queen before i added this new one so the old queens scent would of faded out by now.

When you take things out and put things in, how do you stop the bees from swarming around like ants and stinging you? Do they not care that some kind of huge monster is flying in and snatching the queen?
