Indiana Jones and the Killer Ants

Beitragvon SteveUK28 » 31. Mai 2008 10:31

Hey all..
Last night i went to see the new Indiana Jones film which i thought was pretty darn good... Of course being an ant lover the ant scene really got me and i was loving it. However i aint got a clue if they are based on real ants or not? Or what ants they even are.. Considering the size they had them at id have to say it was like a camponotus gigas.. but then the way they swarmed i'd have to say the lovely Fire Ant... lol But then again im also sure that there is plenty of ants in the amazon yet to be discovered lol... Anyways it was a great scene and seeing a bloke gettin eating alive and taken back to the nest still screaming was well wicked :P
I would advise you all to go see it :D

Dr Jones called the Ants Siafu, which is the Massi name for Dorylinae, aka Driver ants, however they where the wrong shape to be any species of Dorylinae, they looked more like Ecitone, however Ecitone do not live underground, they form tempory nests using there own bodies.....so not very accurate really, but then its Speilberg after all

enough of my geekyness

wikid film :D and yes the ending was poo, but then to be fair, it wouldnt be indian jones if the ending wasnt poo, however Gweneth Powltro (however u spell it) needs to **** off out of Indian Jones, she's beautiful yes, but Indian Jones aint about soppyness, its about over grown boys being boys, and that only involves chicks as far as looking at that imo (shovenstic I know, but thats indian jones!!)

the mushroom cloud was awsome! some serious CGI work there

lol i agree the mushroom cloud was awesome.. i dont like id really like to give it a go tho.. im pretty sure that fridge would have reached mentaly hot temps and indie would have be roasted lol I think it did kind of completly go off track at the end.. the Alien thing totaly ruined it i thought.. I dont know if it was just me.. but during the warehouse part at the begining did any1 else see that crate get smashed and it showed the "holy grail" which was from one of the previous films.. Now including that would have been wicked to the story line.. anyway enough of my babling lol.. Cheers for the info on the ants john ;)

well yeah, u'd need about 3ft of Lead to have any chance of surviving a nuclear blast at ground zero, and then u'd have to stay inside the thing for about 80 years + (people are still suffering radiation poison in Japan!)

i have indeed

it was too far fetched, aliens ruined it, thats what you get when you mix George Lucas and Spielberg, both who are 'Alien/space' fanatics.

War of the worlds was my favourite new ones of spielberg's

you think Aliens are more far fetched than a box full of Deadly Spirits, The Holy Grail & 5 Stones which give you the power to rule the world? lol :P

I'll admit that Aliens are not really indian-jones-esque, didnt really feel right, but def not any less believable, if anything its more realistic lol

I really dont like his Son, I can see they are setting it up to have him as the new Indian Jones, but i'm not convinced its gona work, Indiana Jones is arogant for sure, but his son is something else :?

persinally i really liked the film 7/10. The end was wrong i mean if you were indi there is no way you would ever get hooked in by her even if you did know her before bassicly the ending was one big corn fest. secondly the thing with the aliens, to me it felt like george lucas is stuck in star wars la la land. I like the guy but please no more sci-fi from you at least not for a while. As for the ants they were a bit hollywood i think there was a bit where one of the soldiers were on the ladies legs and it was about 2 inches long! If anyone knows where i can get a colony please tell me!! But as in the temple of doom bugs play a big role in this film series so they were great to have and acted as a ring of fire in the fight scene. The best part of the film though had to be how they didnt try and hide harrison fords age. They took the mic out of it making jokes on how he couldnt quite do stuff as well as he used to. All said and done it was quite a good film but by far not the best in the series.
