nice thanks miszt.......i have never heard/seen quite a lot of these species, i hope i will come across some of them when going up the forest in spring and that :grin:

Actually our forests are no longer the best place to find Ants, you will find some Formica, but many of the aphids they feed on for sugar are dying out very quickly, your best bet are Confirous forests, Camp like these in particular

Most other species are found in Meadows/Grassland

We have very few species in the UK, its a shame really, escpaily considering Africa has 2500+, and the Amazon we havent even scratched the surface finding all the species

This is all i heard from a friend and tv but Formica spc. in england are dying out and if cought of possesing a colony of these which you got from a queen in britain (so u go catch one) you can be fined. This seems like it will happen for sure but ant security isnt at the top of the list now in england since some of my friends caught some queens without me... :(

cant blame them wen i went to germany for holiday lol

Edit: I think i ment more that wen u a caught trying to take a formica Queen then ur in trouble not wen u have a colony since they cant prove if it was from england

everyone,my manica rubida have just arrived!!!

i have placed them in my 1 of my 2 basins, looks like they are very interested in the forest mos i put in their, it looks like they are gonna nest under it. There are about 5 workers in that area and they haven't moved from there since going there really.....

I'll try getting some pics of them later. these ants are really nice:grin:
