Beitragvon Necturus » 27. Mär 2007 21:43

Hey mate,

thanks for the nice feedback :) I noticed both of you provide a lot of help on the english forums, helping a lot of people, and im glad i can contribute. Unfortunately i dont have much to offer on "special" information other then on Pheidologeton. But i try to help with genereal questions. If any of you guys need help with translation of german texts, let me know - language barrier seems to be a problem, and online translators are usually limited to beenig funny ;)

Greets,

If i started keeping ants i had a lot of help to, so I'm glad to help other people with the knowledge i have. ;) (but I'm still learning every day)

Indeed the on-line translators are not what i expected. ;)
I know how to keep my European ants but the Pheidologeton are new to me, I'm want to keep them as good as i can. So that is why I'm looking for something to keep the humidity right.
I know there is lot of information about it in the German part of this forum but my German is not so good. ;) I understand parts of it but i can not wright it.

Greetings

Hey,

well as i said before, your humidity seems to be just fine :) Just make sure the soil doesn't get too dry and you shouldnt have any problems. As far as temperature goes, ~26°C during the day and ~23°C at night work well for me. Did you consider covering part of the formicarium? The colony inhabits the top chambers of my ytong to be as close as possible to the light, they never use the lower part of the nest, unless its hot summer and i wasnt around in time to adjust the temperature ;)

Greetings,
Necturus

Thanks Skippy, they are very nice (this is not the biggest major, they are going to get a lot bigger) but i must say, they are not so easy to keep. As a matter of fact they are very difficult to keep. ;) But i think you already have some experience so you can try if you like. ;)

I hope you find someone, but i doubt it. This in not a trading species, they come from Asia, so if you like someone to trade try to find someone who lives there. ;)
