There was a new event on 20 this month. I made pictures, but I forgot to post it. The Messor also has its first daughter.

I did not write here for a while. I have only the Formica and Messor colony now. I lost the messor workers because the test tube dried out for a while. I plan to add larva from another messor colony. Can I have new brood without a boost? What do you think?
I have another question. My Formica rufibarbis colony is all right. But the queen stopped producing eggs after the first generation. I get them out from the cold two weeks ago. And started feeding them with honey end insects. When do queen start laying eggs in the new year?

That is to bad, you need to be sure it don't dries out. If the water reserve is very low you can ad a second tube (connect them) and they will move. I'm not so found of boosting but i think this would be the best option.

Formica queens stops soon with laying eggs (a few weeks before hibernation) and the start (normally) back after the hibernation (maybe 2 or 3 weeks) But they don't produce more eggs (or larva) than they can raise. If you understand.

No it is Messor structor, I found it myself. And barbarus is not living in our country.

How are the ants doing now?

In Slovakia live somethink like Messor structor (maybe it live in Hungary) .... Messor muticus ,I found young queen 1-2 weeks ago and she has cca 15-20 eggs now.

My formica colony is all right. I put them in an arena. They eat every insects I put there. There are lots of larvas they are bigger and bigger. I created an Ytong nest, I will connect it to the arena later.

My Messor queen had no eggs last time I see her. But I gave her big (winged) Tetramorium pupas. She eat them, she left and adopted only a worker larva. I think she will be all right, with this much protein she can restart her colony.

Skippy: I did not heard this Messor muticus yet. I read and found only structor in Hungary.

Tanks Jimmy. I made a picture fom the Formica nest. They put some debris near the larva now. Maybe it is to help the development of pupas.
