I would like to buy an ant colony but i cannot decide which formicarium would be best.

Is it better to have an apartment where the nest is next to the living area or is an ant display connected with an arena best?

that depends on the colony you are going to take. You can take a look at the gallery here in antstore to get an idea of the formicarium you can take.

I recommend an Y-tong nest. but it's up to you to decide.
