Caught a Tetramorium caespitum queen last year and had her in a test tube till this spring when I moved her and the few young she had into a nest I got from ...edit Antstore - forum rules . They are doing very good and I would guess 100 workers or so. Yesterday I caught another queen and was going to start a new nest or let her go but was wondering if Tetramorium caespitum have more then one queen in a nest? Everything I read says they have been known to have mulitple queens. At this point would it be to late to try and introduce another queen or would it be ok?

german wikipedia says they always have just one single queen. (english wiki doesnt state this explicitly but refers to "the queen")

i think if you put them together one of them (probably the new one) will wind up dead

K. I got my info from a some websites from searching google. But I would rather be safe and not risk her life over a "maybe" ill let her go in a good nesting area. Thank you

I released the queen near a crack in a concrete path in my back yard. She dug in right away.
