Sorry about the quality, I need to work out how to do better. And annotations would help but still looking for the right software (anyone doing video editing on debian?).
Anyway, that's just a short video to show what I have done. The colony is quite small, maybe 100-200 workers, considering it's 1 and a half year old.
I wonder how to estimate the number of worker more precisely, without the possibility to easily see the nest (yes that's a design mistake, not a feature there)...
The video shows the colony drinking honey on a plate and one worker carrying a dead aphid (born and reared inside the tank, look at 20s and taken inside the nest at the end).
I need to find better plants to support the aphid population, any ideas? It needs to be weeds, commonly found in gardens or on road sides (theme of my setup). So far they're only feeding on the daisy and that other tall plant (it germinated here, I have no idea what it is). But nymphs are growing.
