Winter Feeding For Atta?

Beitragvon AntsNational » 18. Okt 2012 15:34

What are some good food alternatives for Attas in the Winter?

Last winter I used rice, corn meal, an indoor rose bush (which I had to use sparingly since the bush was small) and the odd house plant leaf on occasion. Also used were some fruits like apple and raisin. They dont seem to take interest to anything else. Does anyone have any good ideas that work? I wish to sustain the colony over winter and I fear a little because they have grown larger and will require a more diversified diet.

Cheers,
Vasi

Hey Vasile , heres a link to a fantastic page on keeping leaf cutting ants in captivity. It also has a link to a great list of plants for them, a few for winter feeding also

Hey Adam,

Thanks for the website! This is what I've been following as well but I'm interested in knowing if anyone has their own "mixes" or foods besides foliage since there's always the chance of pesticides coming from plant stores!
