I have around 150 crematogaster scutellaris that i found on firewood, so i put them in a plaster nest, and for 3months they are living there... But Sadly there was no queen..

My question is can they acept a new queen? if i buy one, and put it there, can i get good resolts and "save" te colony?
its realy sad, to have already a nice number of ants, and see them disapier...

I could imagine that it is possible since as far as I know big Crematogaster scutellaris colonies can adopt new queens.
However simply putting a queen into the colony doesn´t work as far as I know from my experiences with Crematogaster scutellaris in Croatia.

The best way to put a new queen into the colony would be to cool both down in a fridge and then put them together. When they awaken from their hibernation they could accept each other.
Since you live in Portugal there shouldn´t be a problem in finding them?

The fidge stuff i had alredy eard about, how long we need to wait? after puting them together? any idea? can i do it any time, or puting them in the fridge in this season, isnt good?

About the queen there is alwas the hipotesis of buying one . . .
