Hi everyone, last week I caught an Amblyopone queen and after much trial and error I was able to find her a suitable food mixture that she will eat until she lays eggs and hatches her first workers. Here is a picture of the queen right now. I thought I'd start a topic concerning an Amblyopone queen for others to follow. I will update occasionally. The mixture she eats (and I've noticed that almost all ant species that I keep have accepted this kind of diet, although protein intake is rationed amongst different species):
1 egg yolk + 1 bottle cap of honey + 1 bottle cap of water. Mix it all together, add a bit of water and you will get a creamy canary yellow color. It shouldn't be too deep of a yellow or too light of a yellow.
Wishing my queen good luck!
