its been a very long time since ive been posting on here , Jimmy and Steve should remember me lol , Well i Got wrapped up in life and sadly antstore, well the antworld on the whole faded away from my life. But im back and the interest was always there just needed somthing to spark it off again. The thing that sparked it off was i was digging in my garden the other day and dug up a small ants nest with a queen and small colony. Lasius niger of course. but i was hooked again. They have been put in a test tube and buried back in the ground with a small hole to get out. Im sure they will move somwhere more suitable lol.Anyways im ranting on again time to get to my point lol. I am currently desighning my new ant farm for a colony of leaf cutters. Im not sure yet whether to get Atta or Acromyrmex . Due to the great success of raising my last colony im confident this time around too.
If you had read my previous threads you would of read that i had finally lost my atta colony . The reason was a very extreme hot day , the queen chamber temp went way over 30c and by the time i had come from work and saw this and rushed the queen chamber into a open fridge to cool it down . it was too late . The colony dwindled after a few weeks and the queen also died. They slowly faded out and the fungus gardens which some were the size of a small football turned into powdery flat mould and mush.
