Polyrhachis illaudata do they dig?

Polyrhachis illaudata do they dig?

Beitragvon Lewis » 2. Apr 2009 17:10

I have colony of this spec and they don't seem to dig i don't think they weave like Polyrhachis dives do as it does not say that on the description of them on antstore.
i resently went to antstore in berlin and they said they would fine for this formicarium.
i have them in a glass xl farm 3Ox2Ox6 connected to a 3Ox2Ox2O the xl farm is filled with sand loam mix and all they seem to do is sit on the surface
they are at a temp of 24-26C

thanks, lewis

hi donbilbo,

thanks so what should i put in the set up for them to make their nest out of because all they are doing is sitting in the tube connecting the two basins and coming out in the late afternoon for food.
are they like dives do they weave their nests with larvea?
and now i have this xl basin full of sand and they are doing nothing.

In the PDF you will find exact descriptions about different polyrhachis ants and their typical behaviour. my choice for these ants would be a ytong-nest or maybe some big rotten pice of wood with some caves in it.

If u still r looking 4 a nest 4 ur Polyrhachis, u should look to the magnetic cavestone solution here in the store. Or, similair interresting, an empty coconut hang up in the terrarium. And, off course, give some paper towels to them and see, if they would weave them 2gether on a branch.
