my Camponotus ligniperda queen

Beitragvon gabranth » 28. Jun 2008 20:16

i got my Camponotus ligniperda queen with eggs on the 24th april which then turned into lava but she had eaten them i had almost given up on her but then one day i checked up on her and she had laid more eggs 2 of which have turned into cocoons a week or 2 ago after i put her into the room that my boiler is (forgot what the rooms called) in with my red ant and yellow ant colony ill be moving them into another test tube after they both hatch as there isn't enough room for them until they have 10-20 workers

Probably means she still has enough body fat left. Now the workers are hatching they will feed the queen when necessary. ;)

there's now 2 workers and there eating the fruit flies finally

edit: the queen attacked one of the workers by mistake grabbed one of the workers instead of the fruit fly and crippled it but lucky it seems to have recovered

another update ive now got one really fat queen after feeding my ants honey/suger solution which they love and ive got 6-8 larvae 1 big one that is the same ages as the new worker ants but never turned into a cocoon i think it might be because of a lack of food

if they dont need protien for egg production or brood development, for eg because they have enough stored already, then they wont eat, dont worry :)
