If your wooden nest is ready, let they decide if they need a new one :) Put down the opened tube at the formicarium/tank/area (what the best word for this ? ;) ) and if they leave the tube they want and need a new one otherwise you will have to wait ;)

When I went to take the photos I noticed that worker was in the nest! How long did it take for yours to move in?

Perhaps you could glue the log at the glass plate, because at the first picture there could be seen a big gap. :)

Thanks and yes the nest is always dark, and amazingly they have moved in!! After the first worker at midday today they slowly moved the brood and then the queen!! now that they are in I don't think I should glue it but what is the reason and maybe I will, I have now moved it closer to reduce the gap any way.

Regards

Nice to hear, that they grow so fast :)

My have now build a very little 2nd nest at one Tillandsie and they make the entry / hole smaller with some pulp of raspberries and strawberries :)

Bild

Give them some sweet fruits and see what happend and also the walls of that fruits don't get moldy. :-)

the colony is doing great, they have gone from 11 worker when i got them to beyond 50 with a lot of brood, also the new workers coming through are considerable larger than the older ones, i thought larger workers don't arrive this soon? what do you think? they did managed to eat 7- small cricket, and four of them were killed by them, they are the most aggressive ants i have ever had, for example Camponotus species get very scared but these just go straight in for the kill with no hesitation!
